After high-tailing it up to Ft. Howard yesterday to see the WW Crossbills
(and the Common Redpolls, the real focus of the trip) feeding in the sweet
gums, I'm sitting out the foggy afternoon doing some yard work today when I
spot at least five WW Crossbills, including a very colorful male, in the
massive sweet gum in my own back yard. Invasion year indeed.
