As we were walked towards the playground I heard and obtained visual on a group of 3 White-winged Crossbills flying towards the playground. That group was not refound, but there were Common Redpoll in abundance (at least 5) at the playground. We also had terrific looks at a beautiful male W-w Crossbill. On our way out we tried for the O-c Warbler again and came up empty yet again. We were rewarded however by a flock of 5 Common Redpoll Sitting in a tree off the entrance road above the fence. They flew off after 2-3 minutes, but we were more than pleased with our view.

I was finally able to get down to Fort Howard on rainy, cold, foggy Fort Howard on Sunday.......but it was worth it. Got to see 6 Common Redpolls afterall. Also spotted a few Fox Sparrows and some White-Throated Sparrows. The Redpolls were feeding along with Doves, Juncos and Goldfinches.
