Subject: [MDBirding] Reminder - Replying to Topics

Hi all,

As Tim just mentioned - Google Groups does have one annoying flaw. When a
user hits 'reply' to a message, that message will show up as a reply on the
web, *regardless* of whether the user changes the subject line. I know some
folks simply reply to a message in order to get the correct TO address,
change the subject, and then send. Instead, if you want to bring up a new
topic to the list, start a completely new email if you can. The problem
occurs because there are 'unseen headers' within the email you receive.
When you send a message back to Google, it determines whether your message
is a reply by these 'headers' and not by the subject line.

You can see from this link what Tim is talking about - that the current
H0ary Redpoll discussion is under the Clicker Counter thread on the google
group site.

Thanks everyone. This will help keep the list cleaner and conducive to
better search results. Hopefully Google will change things on their end
soon. Also note that one of the current archive methods is not dependent on
replies and is not affected by this issue.

Best,
