Subject: [MDBirding] a very odd Ring-necked Duck at Centennial Lake - is it a Tufted Hybrid or something else?

Birders,

please check out the four photos I posted on my flickr site of this odd duck I had at Centennial this evening. I would appreciate some feedback on this bird, as I have never encountered anything like it before...perhaps others have. I watched this bird for about an hour. Matt Rogosky, Joe Hanfman, and David Cummings also showed up later and saw it but it was darker by then. We all assume a Ring-necked but as you will see, about the only thing right for Ring-necked is the bill color and overall pattern of color on the body. Everything else including head shape, coloration of the "black" parts, size, and even a small tuft behind the eye say something else. I'd love to hear what you all think.
