This morning I spent about two hours at the Patuxent North Tract walking areas where crossbills have been seen in recent weeks but found none. Later I spent about two and a half hours at Fort Smallwood Park doing the same. After watching a flock of what I was pretty sure were crossbills fly off I later found at least 10 White-winged Crossbills feeding in pines along the west edge of the park near the point.
