Shortly before 5 pm the Say's Phoebe was refound on the bottom telephone wires along Keysville Rd about halfway between Forest & Stream Club Rd and Sixes Bridge Rd. Betsy Bangert and I got great scope views of it facing us in the sun while it pumped its tail. Small/medium flycatcher with a beautiful pink belly and gray head and tail. It then flew a short distance into a bare tree next to a house close to the road here (this is the first house north of the farm house and buildings at the intersection where it was observed by Ringler). It stayed here briefly and then flew west across the road and field to the first set of trees on the south side of Sixes Bridge Rd where we lost sight of it (heat shimmer made scoping impossible from our position). Kevin Graff and another birder I believe got on the bird while it was flying across the field. I decided to leave after this as to not disturb local residents. Farm workers were very busy doing things around the silos before dark but they did not mind our presence.
I feel this could be a tricky situation in terms of safe and non-intrusive access. There is very little room for vehicles to pull off anywhere in the area. We were first parked on the south side of Forest & Stream Club Rd barely but entirely off the road. This could turn bad since the shoulder is moist and it is likely not durable. We then parked just off the road in a paved pulloff on the north side of the farm along Keysville Rd where we were scoping the Say's Phobe from. Perhaps someone with local knowledge can provide insight into birding this area. I will post a google map of the places I'm talking about above once I get home tonight.
Nice find and thanks for the quick post Bob!!
