Hi DC Audubon,

Is DC Audubon still active? I thought after the C&O count was discontinued last year, DC Audubon was calling it quits.

Thanks,

Dear MD Birders,

DC Audubon will be holding its annual C&O Canal Count this Saturday, January 26th. Thanks to the many birders who have signed up to cover over 130 miles of the canal, but we still have a few areas that have not been assigned.

Please take a look at the vacant areas below. If you are interested, send us an email (at <canalcount...>) with your name, phone number, your eBird username (if you have one) and the miles you would like to cover. Others are covering anywhere from 2-10 miles, so feel free to take on as much or as little as you would like.

Miles 42-50 (Monocacy Aqueduct to Lander Road)
Miles 59-69 (Shenandoah River Lock to Antietam Ranger Station)
Mile 85-87 (Feeder Dam #4 to Avis Mill Road)
Miles 107-109 (Feeder Dam #5 to Berm Road)
Miles 113-115 (For Frederick State Park to Licking Creek Bridge)
Miles 124-125 (Berm Road)
Miles 134-135 (Between Daneen Road and Sideling Hill Creek Aqueduct)
Mile 140 (Little Orleans Road)
Miles 148-153 (Off Kasecamp Road)
Miles 167-169 (Lock 71 to Buckley Road)
Miles 173-175 (Spring Gap Recreation Area to Iron Mountain Campground)

Here is a map of the canal for your reference: http://www.nps.gov/choh/planyourvisit/upload/parkmap.pdf

Thanks for your help, and happy birding!
