If you click on Jim's links below, you'll note that the Tufted Duck image is larger than the Northern Flicker image. If you choose to embed images, it's suggested that you use the image size 500 medium (at least for Flickr account users) which is likely the size for the TUDU.

As Jim said, this eases the review process considerably since submissions with photos appear with a camera icon and often are prioritized by reviewers because they tend to be the easiest ones to clear out. Besides photos, you can also embed sound, and video files (which have their own specific icon). You can also provide a web link if you aren't able to embed files. All of the above will speed review.

Subject: [MDBirding] eBird and images

Hi Folks!

With the onset of frigid weather (and taking a break from last year's
madness)I have opened some dusty boxes and started entering old sightings
into eBird. Part of this effort is reviewing slides, videos and digital photos.

The eBird report form allows You to place links or embedded images into the
"add details" section for individual species. For species that need additional
comments, either because that are unusual or the number entered exceeds the
trigger value, this new box automatically appears. Photos of rare or unusual
species ease the review process for the eBird Review Team. Here is an
example:

For common species, You need to click on the species name to get the "add
details" box to open. Like front page news, rarities and unusual numbers have a
WOW! factor, but the day-to-day events need to be reported to provide the
background. Keep in mind that the lists You submit are not just for local
consumption, but can be viewed from anywhere there is access to the
internet. The images You add can provide a resource for out-of-area
birders, artists and the "I really just bought it got the artcles!" set.

Have fun!
