Subject: [MDBirding] Montgomery County 1/27


I birded Black Hills and then down to Hughes Hollow for a short while this morning.� Decent selection of waterfowl at Black Hills included 5 Tundra Swan, around 30 Common Mergansers, 6 Common Goldeneye, Canvasback (maybe 10), and Redhead (10 as well).�Also present were Mallard, 2 distant Black Duck types (too far to see if Mallard hybrid), Bufflehead, Ring-necked Duck, Hooded Merganser�and Ruddy Duck.� Most of the geese had gone but there were a few Canada Geese.

Hughes Hollow was frozen and rather quiet but always nice seeing sparrows hopping around on ice:
