I went hiking at Soldier's Delight NRA outside of Owings Mills, MD this morning. At the entrance to the Choate Mine Trail that is closer to the visitor's center I had four flyby Red Crossbills at 9:40. I hiked around, then checked the entrance to the trail again at noon before leaving. The Red Crossbills hadn't come back, but there was a flock of 15-25 White-winged Crossbills in the pines that quickly worked their way out of sight.
Good birding,
