I was looking for crossbills this morning on the east side of Deer Park Road. I hiked the Dolfield Trail (yellow trail). I started hearing Red Crossbills near the southern extremity of the trail. Returning northward along the eastern wing of this trail I eventually found a flock of 11 feeding high in the pines. The birds were moving around quite a bit. I was still south of Sherwood Road (the road that goes to the private dwelling inholdings) by 200 hundred yards or more. Later while heading west on the orange trail two more Red Crossbills flew over calling.
