Hi all on Saturday 2-3-13 after some errands in Centreville and up near Chestertown I decided to cruise some back roads in upper Q.A. County looking for some field birds .
I hit pay dirt up on leverage Road up located off Rt 544 about a mile from the royal farm store on Rt 213 where there was a flock of about 90 Horned Larks this flock held 6 Lapland Longspurs feeding among them .
Up on Sparks Rd near Dean Rd In Caroline County in the open ag fields mentioned by others I found the Horned Lark flock and soon saw two Snow Buntins in it along with a couple of Longspurs. By this time there was a car coming along I had to move along I came back scoping again another car this repeated a couple more times before I had a long enough time of no traffic to properly check the flock . Road was Snow covered not many wide places to pull off . As one might guess I could not relocate the Snow Buntings but managed to find 35 LAPLAND LONGSPURS there .Latter on at Mason Branch Road [this road boarders opposite sides of same fields] I found 6 Snow Buntings in a lark flock there.
