Lapwing Seekers -

The Lapwing was at the viewing site before dawn today, and was seen by at
least one birder at that time. A fine group of birders was present to
welcome the bird as dawn progressed. It made at least one excursion in
fairly early morning, but returned to the large field NW of the intersection
a bit later to reward the early risers.

Around 10:00 a.m. a Peregrine came by, striking terror into the hearts of
each living feathered thing, and our European guest lifted up and flew
efficiently toward the northwest, and was not seen again, at least not
before 4:30 which is the time that I left. The Peregrine had headed
straight west, so we do not think the two met in battle, but nevertheless,
the Lapwing was "out-of-there".

Hope springs eternal, so surely some hopeful birders will be checking the
site tomorrow morning -- just in case--.
