As I was preparing to leave the site yesterday morning, the local police were setting up a radar speed trap at the entrance to the main dam parking lot. There's also a speed camera on Cromwell Bridge Road just north of Loch Raven High School. Not that birders ever speed.

Just be careful on that road. People drive like maniacs on
here, especially around rush hour.

The Hooded Mergansers are awesome, aren't they? I counted about 154 the other
ay, most I've ever seen at once. Hundreds of Common Mergansers and Ring-necked
ucks around the dams as well. I've never seen so many of these 3 species before
nd keep setting off the eBird high count flags with my counts.
If any of our newer birders need them for lifebirds, this is a great and easy
pot to find them. Just be careful on that road. People drive like maniacs on
here, especially around rush hour.
