Or better yet, just stop birding--period. It's not just owls that are affected. Birding does little but trample habitat, disturb birds--causing them to waste precious energy, and burn fossil fuels--causing pollution and global warming. So just stop birding--now! Let's make membership on this list contingent on people agreeing not to go birding.
I'm kidding of course, but am also making the point that all birding balances the interest of the observer in seeing birds against the welfare of the bird.
