Ha! Very True Jim! Even your kidding does hold true in many ways! I've witnessed so much of it! Sometimes to the point of anger! I agree with James as well about keeping these roosts and birds to your self as their are too many birders and photographers out there that only care to pad their life lists or portfolios with a lack of respect as to any harm it may cause the bird itself.
I am an Owl lover and spend hours in search of the many species, but with respect for their existence and privacy. I have found or at least heard numerous Long-eared owls as well as Saw Whets in my area here in south-central PA and north-central Maryland and have yet to get a decent picture of them in the open. You can search my images galleries on my website and you will not find one LEO or NSW image. But I keep hoping that one day he or she will be there in the open and a welcoming subject. Until then, I am perfectly happy just to know they are there and I had found one!

However, I will say again that my initial response to this ruckus was that Bill automatically assumed that the brush cutting culprit was a photographer. I'm not saying it wasn't as I have no idea who did this. But lets not place guilt before we have the facts. There is already enough animosity between birders and photographers that we need not compound it. I would like to see an end to this animosity and a more harmonious relationship established. But that's wishful thinking I know! I am both a birder and photographer

But as before and always, when I find these sensitive birds my lips are sealed to everyone and anyone. I will report a general but vague location for E-bird purposes but please don't ask me for more information unless I know you well and you hold my confidence. Its better that way!

Jim
