I have witnessed not only BGE, but Pepco and Potomac Edison and
Washington Gas "nuking" some of my favorite power/gas line
right-of-ways that I used to frequent for birds, butterflies, and
botany. One that made me very angry is a cut off of New Hampshire
Avenue near Ashton that I called the "magic power line cut" because I
saw so many bird species and butterflies... rare plants like
Blunt-leaved milkweed (at least it is rare in Montgomery County) and
insects that fascinated me. One fall I was astonished to see ten
Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks there in one tree, and it was a reliable spot
for Prairie Warblers, to name a few.

Yes, I have friends at MD DNR, but, sadly, other powers in that
bureaucracy chose "weighing" the interests of living creatures against
some confounding business interest.

Yes, we need people who can compromise and bring polarized individuals
and groups together to reach common solutions. I am not one of those
people. I have, and will always, take a stand for wild creatures and
the pathetic spaces we are squeezing them into, public be damned.
Enough is enough. Aldo Leopold would agree with me, although I am
sure he would express it more eloquently.

I am with Tom. Hold them accountable.

Must the sound and fury elicited by the original report of a disturbance signify nothing? I would hope that DNR and BGE be held responsible for their lack of effective communication.
