Subject: [MDBirding] Oxbow Lake Common Teal-No

Hi all,

Have some bad luck birding mojo lately, and it continued with no Red Crossbills at Patux.North Tract, but the consolidation prize were the wonderful Red breasted Nuthatches that kept me entertained with their treetop antics. Also Golden-crowned Kinglet, and a Rufous-sided Towhee.

I then went to Oxbow Lake to try for the Common Teal. Met a couple who had just seen it, so I ventured around. Just as I was setting up my spotting scope, a Bald Eagle made a low altitude sortie and flushed all the ducks. Darn. As I was turning to leave, I heard a soft "cluk" " cluk" and put my bins on the bird. A Rusty Blackbird landed on a mudflat and kept saying: "look at me! look at me!" A muskrat swimming by rounded out the days adventures.....
