Subject: [MDBirding] Bullock's Oriole Today

Folks

After a 3.5 hour wait the Bullocks Oriole finally showed up at Kirkwood residence. Thanks to the Kirkwoods for sharing.

Attached are two images I got around 3 PM. Light was not good so I pushed the ISO to get images. Consequently the images are grainy and of poor quality. The flight shot is more instructive since it shows the whitish underwing. This is a useful field mark to help distinguish the Bullocks for the Baltimore as well as the black throat, black eye-line and orange auricular. If these images cant be viewed I will also add them to my website: www.georgejett.net under rare birds in Maryland.

On another note, there is a male Redhead Duck at the corner of Middleton Road and Smallwood Parkway in Charles County for those avid county listers. The pond has about 80+ Ring-necked Ducks and the one Redhead.
