Hi Everybody: I did a quick spin this morning before work and hit a few sites to see what I could find. Highlights below:
RT 121 CAUSEWAY...waterfowl numbers were low...but I did see 2 AMERICAN WIGEON, 10 REDHEAD and 26 COMMON MERGANSERS.
SUGARLAND ROAD: 1 singing EASTERN MEADOWLARK.
PARTNERSHIP ROAD: the continuing SANDHILL CRANE seen in a cornfield about .2 miles from the intersection of River Road.
RILEY'S LOCK: 10 LESSER SCAUP, 2 AMERICAN WIGEON, 1 HORNED GREBE.There were also at least 120 Ring-billed Gulls on the river and and across the river on the golf course.
P.S. I was lucky enough to see the BULLOCK'S ORIOLE yesterday morning. Just wanted to send a special thanks to Dennis and Jean Kirkwood for their warm hospitality. Enjoy the bird as long as you can. The Red-phase E. SCREECH OWL peaking out of the nesting box in their pond was icing on the cake!
