Yesterday afternoon as I was approaching the far platform at Kenilworth AG, I heard something very rail-like calling sporadically from the phrag just south of the platform. The call was similar to, but not quite, the female Clapper Rail's "purr" call, and was similar to a Virginia Rail's "kicker call". The former can be heard here: http://www.xeno-canto.org/16513
The latter can be head at the start of this recording http://www.xeno-canto.org/81272
It seems that either one of these species is unlikely at this location, so I will gladly take suggestions as to what else it could be. I went back this morning and waited in the same spot for some time, but did not hear the bird again.
