Wow! I got started 5 minutes ago with a cup of coffee and my kids to do the great backyard bird count, and there is an American White Pelican at Jug Bay now!!! Amazingly, it is our 3rd record for one here as a "yard bird" (2004 and 2007), but I have never had a Brown Pelican yet.
It is currently at rest south of the railroad crossing, on the Anne Arundel side, and probably easiest to view from the PG side at Patuxent River Park's headquarters/visitor Center.
In other news, yesterday at Mt Calvert I found my first of season Tree Sparrow, my first since Jan 28 last year anywhere in MD.
