The White-winged Crossbills continue at Ft. Smallwood. I saw a flock of around 15 birds flying from tree to tree around the battery and maintenance area. Near the parking lot across from the maintenance area they dropped to the ground feeding on sweetgum balls about 15 feet from my feet! A most enjoyable experience in a rather deserted Ft. Smallwood. Saw a few Common Goldeneye in addition to some more common and expected species.
