I went to Patuxent Research Refuge, North Tract this morning to look for Crossbills. I could not locate any. At Lake Allan, I had a good number of Ring-necked Ducks (perhaps 30-40) as well as Lesser and Greater Scaup, and Hooded Merganser. Two early TREE SWALLOWS over the lake. Bizarre to watch them during snow fall.
