The Trumpeter Swan was very easy to get (noon) where it's been reported on Cash Lake (southwest arm), easily seen from near Visitors Center of Patuxent--South Tract. After that I swung by the North Tract of Patuxent, parked at the last parking area for Pine Trail, and found White-Winged Crossbills about 200 yards further down the road--on the right, about 80 feet from the road, feeding at the top of a few pines. I watched them for 30 minutes--a photographer joined me and had trouble getting good pictures in the poor light. Windy day, too. But very enjoyable to watch them as they stuck around for so long (12:30-1:00--and longer; I left before they did). A Hermit Thrush was a nice find, as well.
