Subject: [MDBirding] pine siskins etc

Pine siskins have been visiting the yard for the past two days. Also heard a singing purple finch yesterday.

Currently living in Clover Hill, a community on the north side of Frederick, MD where there is a surprising variety of birds throughout the year.

I've enjoyed having red-breasted nuthatches through the fall and winter this year, but I miss the brown thrasher that wintered here the past two years. A local pair of Cooper's hawks keep things lively although they thwarted my attempt to count the yard birds this morning by sending everyone to cover.
