Subject: [MDBirding] Trumpeter Swan continues at PNWR

Hi all,

I hadn't seen any recent updates today, but happy to report that the Trumpeter Swan is still present at Cash Lake, at the Patuxent NWR Center Tract (where the Visitor's Ctr. is). At 11:30 AM, it was best viewed from the start of the bridge across the lake (which is closed) near the wildlife viewing blind. It was near a fallen tree that sticks out into the lake, in the company of several Canada geese. A large number of ring-necked ducks are also in the lake, and a few ruddies in the adjacent lake in front of the center. Other birds seen included a fair number of bright swamp sparrows along the lake margin, a hermit thrush on the drive out and driving through the Ag. Ctr, a male kestrel.
