Jane Kostenko and I arrived at the Kirkwood residence at 10:30. We had initially planned on being there first thing but the threat of icy roads made us delay departure from St. Mary's. Dennis poked his head out the window and mentioned that the oriole had been there earlier so we were optimistic. Lots of activity at the feeders until 11:11 when Jane noticed that the BUOR had stealthed in and landed on the platform feeder. It disappeared briefly and we were hoping that the one minute feeding wasn't going to be it for that appearance but it came right back and fed either on the suet or the platform until about 11:25 when it landed in the birch and preened prior to departure at about 11:30.

Dennis popped his head out the window again to make sure we had seen it. We thanked him for their hospitality then hopped in the car to warm up and dry off. It was dripping constantly from the pines due to the heavy mist/drizzle. Still, we only had to wait 40 minutes in relative comfort!

Our oriole continues to put in regular workouts at about 60 minute intervals. He first shows around 7:30 am and continues through 4 pm. The screech owl took the day off. However the goose flock was seen in the fields SE of Bradenbaugh and Harford Creamery Roads and included at least one Cackling Goose.
