After seeing the Trumpeter Swan I went to Oxbow Lake. The visibility was really bad but I couldn't see any teal at all though its quite possible I missed them in the conditions. There was a nice presumed Mallard-Black Duck hybrid male that had a yellow bill, green sides to the head, pale grey-brown throat, grey back and mottled brown flanks.

Good birding

Anyone looking for it should know the most likely spots to find it are on the western shore. A scope is a good thing to have along with you. Make your way to the SE Observation Point (across from Galinule Point). Scan the area around the peninsula (perfect feeding habitat for teal and snipe!). Then continue along the trail to your left so you can see across the lake to the old beaver lodge and the western cove where there is open water when the lake is frozen. Since the water level is low and the temperatures are reaching below freezing, much of the lake will be frozen - so check all the open water sites! Sometimes when the water is open - during the early morning and late evening hours, you might find the teal in the northeast corner, too.
