An interesting mix of birds on the Potomac today following the mist and
rain- notably 94 Horned Grebes and three peregrines. Ebird list follows.

Potomac
Lesser Scaup 2100 approximate count- about 1900 in the group by the
airforce base, about 200 others scattered in Washington Channel and on
Potomac

Common Loon 1
Horned Grebe 94 includes a tight flock of about 25 and about 22 others
between 14th st bridge and memorial, 7 in with the lesser scaup in the
mouth of the anacostia, another flock of 25 between hains and the airport,
and the others scattered amongst the gulls and scaup between hains and the
14th st railway bridge.
Double-crested Cormorant 55 minimum- two flocks of 20 and 25 upriver
Cooper's Hawk 1

Great Black-backed Gull 20
Peregrine Falcon 3 the adult pair from the 14th st railway bridge (I
presume) were flying over the river between the 14th st bridge and memorial
