Hi All,

T'was a fine day to be out, brisk WNW breeze and all. Besides birds we
also laid eyes on a fox and heard the first chorus frog (I think it was
just one) of the spring. We heard a peeper or two as well, but these
have sounded off in our backyard during warm spells already. Folks had
a great time and we had really good looks at several birds, we had
particularly great light on three REDHEADS with scaup and ring-necks on
one of the tour ponds, and good looks at the many eagles and three
harriers. A big pipit flock was in a former soybean field, an impressive
sight sweeping around in the air. We had two GOLDEN EAGLES, the best
view was the last as the two adults soared just overhead at the
reservoir near the far end of the tour; there were also 16 Bald Eagles
in sight at the time. We had several prior sightings of one Golden Eagle
all rather brief and not overly satisfying, inclduing a brief view of it
perched far across a field. I have included notes on the ID and a
complete account of the birds found on the trip within the e-bird
checklist linked
here:http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S13179820.

The Golden Eagles might be searched for along MD-445 north of Rock Hall
and along Reese's Corner Road, or possibly from MD-21. The HQ pond had
Gadwall, many pintail, Green-winged Teal, and shovelers. Thanks to farm
wildlife manager Mark Conner for permission to venture onto the tour
before its April opening, it was a pleasure to be out yesterday morning
on a splendidly managed piece of land.

Good Birding,
