Hi all,
I've coded up a version of the MDBirding website that is meant to be viewed
on mobile devices. The link is here http://www.mdbirding.com/mobile.html
. Currently, it acts as a portal for several other links that might be of
use while you are in the field. The features are summarized below.
Digest - This links to the ABA Birding News 7-day Digest for MDBirding that
is specifically coded for mobile browsers.
eBird Gadget - The MD eBird Rarities gadget is recoded here to hopefully
fit the screen dimensions of your phone.
Post Via Email - Direct mailto link with '<mdbirding...>'
already preset as the 'To' address.
Hotspot Search - Returns a Google map link for any MD/DC eBird hotspot - On
many GPS enabled phones, this will also work nicely with your phone's
navigation system.
Browse Hotspots - Google map links to hotspots aggregated by county - Again
this seems to work nicely with navigation on some phones (Android). Missing
counties will be added soon.
Rarities by County - links to eBird for each county's "Rare Bird Alert"
page
I've already heard from a few folks that have seemed to find it useful. If
you have ideas for other features, feel free to send me an email. Also,
coding these sites is just another hobby of mine, so I make no promises
about this working for all devices.
