Subject: [MDBirding] Blackwater NWR, and 3 Osprey day,plus a Peregrine


Hi all,

�Here is a summary of our bird trip this Sunday (Andy Martin,
Bob C. Tim B. Jeff R. D.Ford). We managed to find 72 species, and highlights were- Oakley St.Cambridge:Lesser Scaup, Canvasbacks,Redhead, Buffleheads, DC. Cormorants, Osprey (one of 3 for the day)Am.Widgeons,etc. Choptank had several Surf Scoters and a Long-tailed Duck and small flocks of Buffleheads.
Egypt Rd: White-crowned Sparrow and Savannah Sparrow, Northern harrier.
�At Blackwater: 1 Am. Pelican, Tundra Swans, Ring-necked ducks and Northern Shovelers,Am.Coot, Kestrel, Eastern Meadowlarks, Greater Yellowlegs and a fly-by Peregrine Falcon. Northern Harrier, Common Merganser, many Snow Geese (distant) Killdeer and 2 Tree Swallows observed also.

Near Decoursey Bridge road a poultry farm had at least 60 Bald Eagles hanging around and many Turkey Vultures. A search for Golden Eagle came up empty. In the same vicinity we did find a leucistic Dark-eyed Junco.
Several areas had good numbers of Green-winged Teal and Am.Black Duck. We ended the day on the Harriet Tubman trail with a couple of Eastern Bluebirds and Ruby-crowned Kinglet.
