This morning I saw 3 White-winged Crossbills on the entrance road to the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center (South Tract, PG County). I then headed to the North Tract (AA County), where I saw a flock of 12 Red Crossbills in the usual area along the road to Lake Allen.
It was a good morning for ducks as well. I had 2 male Common Mergansers fly over my back yard as I was loading up the car f(new yard bird), and I saw my first Wood Ducks of the year, a pair flying over Patuxent South Tract.
