Hi all - I just logged over 2100 Canada Geese heading north over the Wheaton Branch Stormwater Ponds in Silver Spring, between c. 0820 and 1000. Most were high up. Movement was occurring over a broad front to the east and west, though some flocks seemed to be following the Sligo Creek drainage. Some flocks were several hundred strong. A few Ring-billed Gulls and Common Grackles heading northward too. Also of interest, a Hermit Thrush and a Myrtle Warbler along the wooded eastern perimeter.

Happy Spring!

I was outside for the three: one flock was already to the north and out of sight, the second had between 50 and 100, and the third flock had over 200 Canada Geese in it. It was was an awesome spectacle!
