Subject: [MDBirding] Golden Eagle at Pickering Creek

My husband and I also had a GOLDEN EAGLE at Pickering Creek, but I
thought it was an adult, so there may be 2 birds. This bird had buffy
underneath the tail, with just a shading of white under the wings, and a
golden head. I did not see any white in the tail. Since I only see, if
I'm lucky, a Golden every year or two, I'm not familiar with the aging. How
many yeaers before it takes to become an adult? Also had a female WHITE
CROWNED SPARROW. We went to Blackwater afterwards, and there was more
people than birds, since they had the Eagle festival. We hoped for a Rough
legged hawk on Cedar Creek Rd., but unfortunately, no luck. We did have a
SHORT EARED OWL cruising low , around 5 PM. Also, several NORTHERN
HARRIERS, and a brief appearance of an EASTERN MEADOWLARK, flying
overhead. A nice ending to a beautiful day!
