Subject: [MDBirding] A few Eastern shore highlights

Spent Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon birding various locations on the Eastern shore including Pickering Creek Audubon Center (Sat and Sun), Cambridge waterfront (Sat), Kent Narrows (Sun), and Adkins Arboretum (Sun).

Highlights included at least 4 Am. Tree Sparrows Sat. morning at Pickering Ck in a mixed sparrow flock that also held several White-crowned, Field, White-throated, Song, Savannah, and Swamp Sparrows. The mixed flock was along the gravel entrance road between the blind and the parking lot in the corn stubble and in the low brush. A Cackling Goose was present in the large mixed flock of waterfowl which allowed great looks at all the common species in great light in the early morning. No Golden Eagles either day. Saw a single Tree Swallow here today and an Osprey. The Osprey on Rte 50 on Kent Island was also back perched besides its nest on the sign over the highway. Tried for the Tufted Duck today but all the Scaup were way out under the Kent Narrows bridge and essentially out of view.

The feeders at Adkins Arboretum today had a Purple Finch (female) along with continuing Red-breasted Nuthatches.

Good Birding,
