Subject: [MDBirding] Hughes Hollow (Montgomery Co.) 3/10/13

Although Hughes Hollow was not on the massive Canada Goose exodus route, It did not disappoint.

Small impoundment

Ring-necked Duck 26
Pied-billed Grebe ( the largest one we have ever seen)
American Bittern ( heard 3 times)
Great Blue Heron 1
American Coot 1

Tree swallows plentiful flying over both impoundments
Red-Shouldered Hawk 1
Bald Eagle ( Mature )1

Large impoundment

Hooded Merganser 2 pairs
Great Blue 1

Along the road

Golden-crowned Kinglet 2. ( the closest I have ever been to them. 6 feet. seemingly oblivious of my presence. Stunning!)
Tufted Titmouse 2
Yellow-rumped Warbler 1
White-breasted Nuthatch 1
Red-bellied Woodpecker 1
