I have decided to enjoy spring with a regular Friday lunchtime 12-1 Patterson Park trip. Last week, in high winds, we managed a dismal 12 species. This week, we managed a respectable 21, with non-boring birds including 2 calling Pied-billed Grebes, Coots and Ring-necked Ducks (but no Wigeon or Red-breasted Merganser), lots of Song Sparrows and Juncos all over, one White-throated and a Fox Sparrow (!) in the white house yard, a Cooper's Hawk. With an American Kestrel (corner of BaltimorexWolfe) and a House Sparrow on teh way home, 23 species (admittedly including Muscovy Ducks) is a pretty good start.
