In addition to saving time for most of us (having to google the scientific
name), the common names are what ,I and I assume most others, search on when
researching posts for a certain species or bird. I retain all the posts
here in Outlook and often search archived posts to pick up all the necessary
details sprinkled through many posts. Bad enough I need to do two searches
(common name and 4 letter abbreviation) but this only adds a 3rd, which also
requires a search to come up with the scientific name.

Amazing.

Wouldn't it be better, especially for new birders if you just used "Sandhill
Crane" as the title! It might just draw more views as well!
