Hey everyone,

On Saturday Dan Small and I birded the lower Eastern Shore. After successfully twitching the Black-tailed Godwit at Chincoteague we spent most of the morning in the Somerset County marshes. At Rumbley Point a very obliging American Bittern was feeding in a ditch along the roadside. At Deal Island WMA good numbers Greater Yellowlegs (over 80) were observed along with several flocks of Gadwall and American Wigeon as well as a single Great Egret and nine Tricolored Herons. Mute Swans were also observed. Pine Warblers were singing throughout the day. No other early migrants were noted. In the Nassawango a pair of Wood Ducks were seen along Bear Swamp Rd in Wicomico County. White-breasted Nuthatches were heard at several of the stream crossings and a single Red-breasted Nuthatch was seen at a feeder on Creek Rd in Worcester County. A single Pine Siskin was heard as it flew over Fooks Rd in Wicomico County.
