Today I birded the entire day with my first stop pre-dawn at Gwynn Acres hoping for salamanders in the water. No luck but did flush some WOOD DUCKS. Then to the Middle Patuxent which also had a pair of Woodies but it was otherwise slow for birds. Wood frog eggs were everywhere!

Then back to Gwynn Acres for some lichens and mosses. The afternoon was very active there with a flock of 14 CHIPPING SPARROWS and a PINE Warbler. We also had a Mourning Cloak and Anglewing butterfly. Then on to Hentryton along the Patapsco for Salamanders. Found another lovely Northern Red. A few feathers caught on a branch that I believe were Screech Owl?

A last stop at Alpha Ridge Park where the Peepers were deafening. Also a few Wood Frogs calling with some egg masses. It is a mystery that you can stand over hundreds of peepers and not see a single one!
