Subject: [MDBirding] North Tract, 4 PineW

Surprised not to see even one other person at Patuxent North Tract on such a beautiful day.

When I got a long and very close look at the first of the Pine Warblers, I was happy to think that spring is here--and migration. 3 of the 4 were singing their fast-trilling song. The 4th, perhaps a female (didn't get a good look), was keeping company with a singing male--at Lake Allen. The first 2 were singing (one seen) along the Loop road.

Aside from this place as a nearly sure bet for Pine Warblers, I can think of Soldier's Delight (overlook, etc.) and maybe Gunpowder (Sweet Air).

Today's best birds:

Pine Warbler (4)
RB Nuthatch (10)
Kestrel (1)
Brown Creeper (1)
Golden-Crowned Kinglet (1)
Phoebe (3)

All good birding wishes,

Tim Houghton
