Subject: [MDBirding] Re: Eared Grebe - DC ?

I was in the neighborhood so I decided to check for myself.
I found two grebes at the far north end of Washington Channel (where it connects with the tidal basin and where the Black-crowned Night-herons tend to roost.
One was definitely horned, the other may have a slim chance of being Eared, but I think that it was just farther along in it's molt than the other.

I found a third Horned well into it's molt about half way down the channel along with one Pied-billed.

I regret that I did not have time to check the Tidal Basin.
If anyone heads down there this weekend, keep in mind that the Cherry Blossom season is here
and while the trees are nowhere near peak you should expect crowds and a good deal of traffic.
