Subject: [MDBirding] signs of spring in Cecil County

A Canada Goose appears to be nesting in the usual spot on the island in the
big pond on Warburton Road. There were a few other geese as well and a
couple of scaupy-looking ducks, but I was unable to stop and check. I also
spotted a gorgeous adult Red-shouldered Hawk hunting on Union Church Road.
Robins are all over the place now that the snow has melted (good
riddance!). We have to keep the garage door shut to keep the Carolina Wrens
out.

I had a Red-breasted Nuthatch at the suet yesterday; as I type this, the
Brown Creeper is waiting its turn beneath the female Hairy
Woodpecker. We've had up to 100 female Red-winged Blackbirds at a time on
the ground. Our Screech Owl continues to hang out between 6 pm and 7:30 pm.
