Well, I�ve been out a lot and not seen many (any!) new birds. ( Didn�t go for Jim Wilkinson�s excellent Longspur sighting. ) I did finally get a Brown Thrasher this afternoon at Centennial Park of all places. There were zero swallows there and very little waterfowl....other than two Wood Ducks. I also a pair this morning at the Middle Patuxent where they have been hanging out in the flooded nesting box area.
However...I�m glad I�m not solely reliant on birds for my spring fix. I did just find my first two Dusky salamanders! Just like with birds you wait to see your first one and then they are everywhere. I also had an incredible fungus called a Devil�s Urn. Just about the neatest thing I have seen! I also had some Toothwort today in bud. Maybe it will open tomorrow?
