A little after 8 this (chilly) morning, a Louisiana Waterthrush was singing in the traditional spot, the woods next to the bridge that crosses over to the lockhouse.
We also had nice looks at Barred Owl, Bald Eagle, both kinglets, and cowbirds. The impoundment is still hosting shovelers, green-winged teal, wigeon; on the river by the lockhouse, bufflehead, ring-necked, hooded mergansers; lots of wood ducks. Lydia Schindler Darnestown, Montgomery County
