Thanks to all who replied! Jon and I were able to catch up with the absolutely amazing Anna's hummingbird!!! He gave us a short, but very impressive look without making us wait long!! Many thanks to our kind hosts for that!

After that, we took the popular advice and walked at John Heinz Wildlife Refuge near the airport. The kids enjoyed walking, while Jon and I enjoyed the birds (and walking). First of year Mute Swan - hard to find in my native MD county! Last bird of the walk was a little Golden Crowned Kinglet fluttering in the trees nearby and showing off his golden crown. A Bald Eagle nest was also great - we saw a bird on the nest, and had a close fly-by of, presumably, its mate.

Great suggestion for us from our Maryland friends!

We'll be here until Saturday - so if anyone hears of rarities, we're still taking suggestions, and most grateful to all!

Hi,

I'm heading for 2 days in Philadelphia, PA. Looked at the bird lists last night, but was not able to make much headway in figure out what rarities/unusual birds might be in that vicinity. I'd welcome suggestions of places to bird in the city or close by and/or "highlight" birds between Annapolis and Philly. Can't get too far off course - have non-birding kids with us, wanting a *vacation*, rather than a birding trip!

Please respond privately, off list!

Thanks!!!

Joanne
