We used Redlich for binoc repairs (the old style B&L Custom Compacts, among others) years ago, I second Rick's recommendation - excellent service! I bought my first scope from Mr Redlich way back in 1993 when he had his shop in Falls Church, VA.

I sent in one pair of Swarovski bins that had been nearly destroyed in a sandstorm that gritted up the focus and interpupillary mechanisms; they returned it in tip-top shape. I even sent them most recently my first pair of birding bins, circa 1963 when I was all of 7, a Sans & Streiffe that had clearly seen better days. Got it back in beautiful shape for a 50-year-old pair of glasses that saw me through my teenage ornithology years!

The collimation was out-of-whack and I sent them in for repair (which would have been $35, max). They determined that the repair was not a reliable fix and offered to replace my bins with new ones!!!! While the replacement took about 3 months (apparently, it took that long for the Japanese factory to make some new ones -- that model is no longer being regularly manufactured). I just got them back yesterday and they are perfect! The old adage that one gets what one pays for is certainly true of good bins. Not only are they more reliable and better optically (generally), the service is incredible.
