Hi all,
Did some birding about mid-morning with a stop at Riley's Lock first: Bonapartes gull, lots of turtles sun bathing and a neat Garter snake crossing the path. Fish Crows are still in the vicinity.
Hughes Hollow: Flushed an American Bittern which landed on the cattail edge of small impoundment, showing nicely for a few minutes. 3 Great Egrets made an appearance. Waterfowl previously reported: Ring-necked Ducks, Redhead, Am. Widgeon, BW Teal, Wood Duck, Gadwall, Am. Coots, & Pied billed Grebes (chuckling in the cattails) Great Blue Herons. Dog trainers in area, so some ducks took off.
Made a quick stop at Pennyfield to view the 10 Green-winged Teal hanging out, and watch the love antics of the Snapping Turtles rolling around in the mud. Ah, spring....
